ULBOC HEAVES HIS MOMENTUM TO CLINCH GOLD MEDAL IN STEEPLECHASE
Philippine Athlete Christoper Ulboc absorbs a triumph as he took a charge for the last 30 m in Athletics Men’s 3000m steeplechase Final of 28th SEA Games in Singapore.
Ulboc showcased a steady form and redeemed his momentum for the last jump to complete the track with 8: 59. 07 minutes and snatched the gold medal over Vietnam’s Tien Pham.
“Ginamit ko lang yung strategy na wag magmabilis sa simula ngunit panatilihing nasa mataas na posisyon at saka lang kumarera pagdating ng last meter,” Ulboc said in the post-game interview.
He gave Indonesia’s Atjong Purwanto a fair shake as he settled for second place from the start to 2950m of the track.
Front runner Purwanto and Ulboc remained in their place while Vietnam’s Trong Le and Pham were outrunning each other for the 3rd place of the 1st lap.
Purwanto and Ulboc maintained their positions as they slayed on their form of performance until the last 1000m with 7:00 minutes run.
Purwanto became a blind-sided runner as Pham dethrones Purwanto to be a front runner while Ulboc clinched his position.
After 3 jumps, Ulboc raised the game’s tempo as he fueled his momentum to clinch the first place in 8:51 minutes and dotted the game with 8:59.07 minutes.
