Professor Judy Taguiwalo acknowledged President Rodrigo Duterte’s offer as the new Department of Social Welfare and Development(DSWD) secretary to be seated for six years.

Duterte is currently picking his desired members of the cabinet which he calls ‘kaliwa.’

​

“Ang kaliwa ay tumitindig sa nakararami kaya tinatanggap ko ang pagpapahayag niya sakin na magkaroon ng pwesto,” Taguiwalo reiterated.

She emphasized that her action will be assured in every problem the department will face.

“Ang tatatak kong katangian sa gabinete ay ang pagiging maagap at mapagkalingang serbisyo para sa lahat,” she said.

Taguiwalo will focus on solving corruption in the country especially on government officials.

​

Studies show that Philippines is losing an estimated amount of P1.2 B everyday due to corruption.

​

“Ang pagpuksa sa korapsyon ang isa sa mga pangunahing batayan ko sa pakikipag-alyansa sa kaliwa,” she explained.

​

In connection to this, she will also target to fully stop pork barrel in the country.

“Laganap pa rin ang pork barrel sa ating gobyerno at kailangan ng agarang solusyon ukol dito,” she told.

​

Moreover, she will push a bill that orders all the casino earnings to be invested in some areas on the country’s funds.

“Mayaman naman ang Pilipinas, mahirap ang mga Pilipino,” she stated.

​

Taguiwalo concluded that poverty’s voice in the country is historical and structural which needs to be further studied for concrete solutions.
