Gov’t sends medical help for
‘mysterious disease’
Department of Health concerned the increasing number of Tinea imbricata cases among the aeta tribe in Tagkawayan, Quezon.

Residents stated that the disease came from Leni Pano which spreaded to their community with variety of severeness level.

“Malayo kami sa mga botika, doctor at hospital kaya hindi namin alam kung anong sakit itong kumakalat samin,” Pano reiterated.
​
With regard to this, the local government of Tagkawayan provided free consultation and boxes of medicine.
​
“Naiintindihan namin na ito ay may kamahalan, sa katunayan ay ito’y nagkakahalaga ng P200 bawat tableta,” Dr. Belen Dofitas, DOH expressed.
​
Moreover, they discussed about the essence of having the knowledge regarding the said ‘mysterious disease’.
​
DOH also reminded that the tribe should not be embarrassed of their disease.
​
“Para sa mga nakakakita ng residenteng may ganitong sakit, ‘wag nyo naman idiscriminate dahil ito nga ay nagagamot,” she told.
​
The government, through the DOH, aims to raise awareness on how skin diseases like this can be prevented and cured.
