Christmas on the Road
Unlike a normal road, Ibabang Dupay road,filled with bright lights grabs the attention of people as they pass along this well lit instragammable highway.
Commuters can’t help but turn their eyes to Christmas lanterns that come in various shapes and sizes everytime they pass through alongside of the Saint Isidore Parish.
One of the shops that's in this light-filled place is Alliyah's Lantern. A simple Christmas light shop that has attracted lots of people's eyes.
They have sold lanterns for two years and as they sell these, they see the happiness of bypassers also they tend to stop and take picture at the lights that resemble Christmas.
Lanterns, Christmas Trees and Parols are sold in their area and the attention-grabbing part of these are the LED lights that are connected to the lanterns and Christmas trees. They also repair broken lanterns brought by buyers.
During The Coconut's interview the owner refused to reveal her name so she just introduced her shop instead. The shop is named after her child, Alliyah, and they started business beside the road because that's where they actually live.
They don't earn much but still it helped a lot since their only work is holding an internet cafe back then.They themselves make and build each lanterns sold, but they still buy metal frames in Pampanga and LED Lights in Quiapo, and after getting each fragment they work on the lanterns.
The making of these goes on an hour-long process. As they compile each part the LED Lights are put on the metal frames using nylon and after that, and the wires are connected to finish the process.
In this road, the lights of Christmas are held high as if it’s Christmas everyday, seeing how people react on how these lights affect them made this place uphold the presence of Christmas.
Christmas only comes in once in a year, but the lights represent the upcoming awaited event of the year, Christmas. And this road enlightens the representation up by showing people the lights of Christmas.
